WHAT'S GONE!

January started with more dancing! Danny and his team of helpers from Dance Youself Dizzy came along to teach us how to jive. Once again, dancing proved to be very popular and it wasn't long before everyone was jiving to the beat of the music and the Hall was filled with laughter and smiling faces!

In February, artisan baker Jason Judd from the Oven Door Bakery in Fair Oak came to talk to us about bread and his passion for baking. He even brought delicious samples for us to taste. The favourite being his Low GI bread, which everyone raved about!

Hampshire WI member, Jean Johnson came to talk to us about her resolution to provide safer working conditions for prositutes. Her talk was informative and thought provoking and highlighted the plight of prostitues in the UK. She told us about her travels to brothels in Amsterdam, Nevada and New Zealand and how prostitution is treated in these countries.

April saw us learning about Ebay!. Wyvern Technology College devised a presentation to introduce us to Ebay and the procedures to follow in order to buy and sell safely.

In May we had delicious organic food tastings from Laverstoke Park Farm. Claire Scheckter came and talked to us about her and her husband's excting journey into the world of organic and biodynamic farming. She gave a most informative talk about about their farming methods, sustainablility and animal welfare.

June was the month for making wine charms. We sat quietly and each made a set of beautiful beaded wine charms to take home.

July brought more singing! Half 8 were welcomed back for another great evening of uplifting singing.

No meeting in August, but September saw us wine tasting. Majestic Wine from Winchester encouraged us to test our palate with a fantastic selection of red, white and fizz! We also went to The Bugle, Twyford for a 'Pavlova' cookery demonstration by Lenny, the head chef and proprietor - followed by delicious tastings!

In October we went Greek! We had a laugh dancing to the well known 'Zorba the Greek' tune amongst others and stuffed ourselves on a selection of delicious greek nibbles.

In November we were 2 years old. We celebrated our birthday with bingo and cake at Twyford Social Club. During the summer we entered the New Forest Show with Kirstie Allsop, and the broadcast of the TV show happened to co-incide with our brithday party and so we all watched together before the bingo!

Finally, in December we learnt how to decorate our Christmas tables. Violet McMonnies stunned us with her simple ideas, using everyday items, to make a dinner table stunning, whether for Christmas or a dinner party or just a get together with friends. Pineapples were sprayed and tables mats covered over the Christmas period in Twyford!
